Summary
Shannon received his B.S. in Chemistry and B.S. in Cell Biology in 2010 from The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Belton, TX. He has previous research experience in the preparation, characterization, and photochemistry of N-aryl enaminoketones and enaminoesters. He is also a strong advocate of chemical education, having avidly participated in countless elementary school demonstrations and science events. He was a Robert A. Welch Scholar (2007-2010) as well as the president of the ACS Student Chapter at UMHB (2007-2010). He has been a graduate student at Southern Methodist University since August 2010 and is currently working on developing well-defined functional polymers.
