Seting up your compter to print using the Ricoh 11 x 17 printer

The Ricoh Printer has an internal letter size tray (8 1/2 x 11 inch) and can also print larger paper sizes up to 11 x17 inches (Tabloid) using the Bypass tray. It uses a USB connection (cable is with the printer) so bringing in a laptop works just fine. You can also bring a PDF file in on a USB Flash drive, and Dr. Frank can print that from his MacBook Pro.

Before using you will need to install the printer driver on your system. You may download it here:

After downloading, install the driver before coming to Dr. Frank's office. After you install it, come in and the final setup will only take 5-10 minutes, if all went well.

Here is a link to a PDF file that expleins the overall process:

Setting up your computer and printing using the 11 x 17 size on the Ricoh Printer

Note: Macintosh uses with OS 10.5.7 or 10.5.8 must go through the "bug" fix that is in the PDF file before being able to access the Tabloid size printing features!

A final note: Printing always takes longer and is more complicated than first expected! Allow double the time you think you will need for any print jobs. After a print-orientation session with me (to be sure you know where all the paper, etc. is and how to run the printer, binder, etc.) I am happy to allow access to my office after hours with the facilities office as needed. I will need your SMU ID number to do this. Printing is for composition projects only, please.
