Introduction
This is the first course in microeconomics
for honors undergraduate students at SMU. The aim of the course is to train
students in basic concepts and principles of microeconomic analysis, introduce
them to the art of theoretical reasoning and to help them understand the
amazing array of real-world economic applications of microeconomic analysis.
This course will require familiarity with high school algebra and basic
calculus.
Learning Objectives:

Inculcate basic microeconomic concepts and
tools of analysis

Equip students with the ability to use
microeconomic reasoning to analyze concrete economic problems.

Examinations:
Student learning will be assessed by three exams: two Midterm Exams and a Final
Exam; all exams will take place in the classroom and will be written and
"closed book". There will be no multiple-choice questions. The exam schedule is as follows:
First Midterm Exam: Thursday, October 10
Second Midterm Exam: Thursday, November 21
Final Exam: Friday, December
