Beta Sheet

Beta sheets are formed by two or more beta strands. If the strands run in the same direction they are called parallel. If they run in opposite directions they are called anti-parallel. In each case the strands are held together by hydrogen bonds from the backbone groups, C=O and N-H. To examine two-strand examples of these structures click on the links below:
