The
DBD (residues 1–120) together with
two double-repeat DNA motifs-a tail-to-tail HSE
(ggTTCt, in which capital letters
denote the HSF1-recognition motifs)
The
conformation of the C-terminal residues of DBD is stabilized
by hydrophobic interactions of Phe104, Leu112 and Ile115 with
the core of the domain,
and
by a backbone hydrogen bond between the amide at residue
Lys118 and the carbonyl group of Met75, which is located at
the C terminus of helix α3.
This arrangement makes the DBDs and the coiled-coil bundle
located on opposite faces of the DNA double helix.
