Chromodbox homolog 2 (CBX2)

Crystal structure of the complex of human CBX2 (9-66) with a peptide from histone H3 covering residues 21-33 with trimethylated K27.

CBX2, -4, -6, -7 and -8 are the mammalian homologs of dPc, which are components of PRC1. Among these, only CBX2 has a strong preference for the H3K27me3 mark, suggesting that CBX2 is the functional ortholog of dPc in humans. Overexpression of CBX2 has been shown to enhance proliferation in various cancer types. Helices, sheets and H3K27me3 peptide are colored in magenta, lightcoral, and cyan, respectively.
