Matrices with the .mm extension are stored in the matrix market ASCII format, which in matlab can be read by the mmread.m script.
Matrices with the .mat extension are stored in the standard matlab binary format.
All matrices are compressed by gzip, thus the .gz extension.

Hermitian matrices for generalized eigenvalue problems from DFTB
Matrices in this section are saved in .mat format, but only the upper triangular parts are saved (in order to reduce the file sizes). When using these matrices, it is necessary to do the symmetrization (A+A')/2 - diag(A), where A is loaded from any one of the matrix files in this DFTB section. The sparsity plots show the structure of the symmetrized matrices.
