Judah Epstein, SEJC President, presented the "2003 Outstanding Undergraduate EE Faculty" Award to Senior Lecturer Dr. H. Charles Baker at the Annual SEJC Awards Banquet on April 25, 2003.

In the year 2000, Professor H. Charles Baker, Ph.D.,P.E., received a 10-Year Outstanding Instructor Award from Dr. Andre Vacroux, President of National Technological University. This is the only such award ever presented by NTU. Nearly 700 professors from 53 universities teach courses over the NTU satellites each year. Only 46 professors have ever received the annual Outstanding Instructor Award. H. Charles Baker holds an earned Ph.D. from the University of Texas (Austin), 1962, with a major in Electrical Engineering. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, specializing in telecommunications and computer systems for over 40 years. He worked for Exxon Company, U.S.A. as a Telecommunications Advisor and currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer in Electrical Engineering at Southern Methodist University where he has received numerous awards for teaching excellence. He has also established Telecommunications Engineering, Inc., a consulting firm in Dallas.
