(He has received the only "10-year Outstanding Instructor Award" ever given by National Technological University. He is the only teacher out of nearly 700 professors at 53 universities teaching on the NTU satellite system to have won this award based on evaluations by students, for every year since the award was established in 1989. Less than 5% of the teachers on the NTU Network receive it each year.)



Charles is a Christian, having met Jesus Christ at the age of 14. Charles and Barbara are members of The Fathers Church in Dallas, where they serve on the Church Board and joyfully work in various teaching ministries with senior adults, adults and children. They are much involved in Christian counseling, and they are active members of The Gideons International. (Gideon volunteers in 194 countries place Bibles and New Testaments in 93 languages in hotels, hospitals, nursing homes, jails, prisons, schools, universities, airplanes, military bases, police and fire stations, and doctors' and attorneys' reception areas, at the rate of more than one million per week.)


Charles is a member and Newsletter Editor and Webmaster of the Dallas Chapter, of The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. The Dallas Chapter is the world's largest SAR chapter. He is the 2004 recipient of the Dallas Chapter's Golden Sledgehammer Award. He is also a recipient of several SAR medals at the State Level. In 2008, he was awarded the SAR Patriots Medal which is the highest honor that can be awarded by a State Society. He is a member of the North Texas Color Guard of the SAR, with the SAR rank of Lt. Colonel, and he regularly participates in patriotic parades and ceremonies.

He is the assistant webmaster of the Texas Society of the SAR.
