What is a full-time credit hour load for graduate students? 9 credit hours per semester. For international students, this is the minimum requirement per semester.

Can I take more than 9 credit hours per semester? Yes, but given the rigor of graduate courses, this is not recommended. Many students who attempt to take more than 9 graduate credit hours end up on academic probation (GPA less than 3.0).

What is the difference between "distance" and "online" classes?

Distance Classes
- Each week the live class is recorded and made available on Canvas
- Students view the video and do assignments

Online Classes
- Class lectures are prerecorded – available on Canvas
- Each week students are expected to post on the Canvas Discussion Board
- Each week there is a Zoom meeting scheduled in the evening- the Zoom meeting is used for student presentations, addressing student questions and discussions. (Note: the weekly meeting is NOT a lecture).

How do I get information on internship and full-time employment opportunities? For students in the Lyle School of Engineering, the Hart Center for Leadership is a good resource for career advice and employment opportunites.

I am an international student - what do I need to do to qualify for an internship? You will need to apply for Curricular Practical Training (CPT). For the semester that you plan to do CPT, you will enroll in a CPT course. For Lyle Graduate Students (including CS graduate students), the CPT course is ENGR 8199.
