term the student has to deliver a term paper (following the rules
stated on this page) and presents the major findings to the other
participants.

Topic: Pricing Information Goods for Digital Libraries
In your term paper you have to develop strategies
(pricing/versioning/bundling/cooperation) for the digital library of the WU
(http://epub.wu-wien.ac.at).
This digital library provides full-text access to research documents which are
information goods.
-
First, every student has to read chapters 1 through 3 of the book
"Information Rules" by C. Shapiro and H.R. Varian
(the chapters and additional literature will be available for
copying at the front office).
-
On Apr 1 each student presents an assigned topic
from the book (appr. 15 minutes per student).
-
By May 11 each student has to submit a concept for the term paper consisting
of an outline (about 2 pages also containing the
main ideas for the digital library) an indented table of contents
and a list of
found literature.
The focus should be on the topic of the book chapter you presented.
You will get feedback per email
or we will set up an individual meeting.
- The final paper has to be submitted by June 3 and the presentations are
on June 17. You will get feedback per email and after the presentation.
June 29 is the final deadline to submit improved versions of your paper.
The focus of research has to be on the economic aspects of the topic using
scientific methods
(e.g. Scenario technique using return on investment and total cost of ownership,
cost-benefit analysis;
qualitative research and
quantitative research
).
Simply enumerating technical features or products is not sufficient!
