Homework Assignment 9
27 November 2001 at 5:00 p.m.
1) Solve the diet problem example from class with AMPL.
2) Suppose that PowerBars are available. A PowerBar cost $1.50 and provides 10 milligrams of protein and 30 milligrams of Vitamin C. It contains no Vitamin A or B. Modify the AMPL data file you used in problem (1) to account for Power Bars and solve it with AMPL. What is the new solution? What happens if PowerBars cost $0.75 each?
Refer to the GT Railroad problem for the problems 3 and 4.
3) Suppose that GT railroad has two additional locomatives at
Mockingbird Station and the costs of sending a locomative from Mockingbird
Station to A-Station, Fine Place, Goodville and Somewhere Street are 20,
15, 12 and 40, respectively. Modify the AMPL
files given in class to account for the new station and resolve the
problem.
4) How does the solution to problem (3) change if 3 locomotives are
required at A-Station,
2 are required at Fine Place, 3 are required at Somewhere Street
and none are required at Goodville?
To receive full credit for these problems, turn in your model files,
data files and the AMPL output.
