Part 1: Discussion Questions

1. Someone claimed that the written form of NLI is essentially the same as CLI. Argue for or against this statement, while paying special attention to the use of vocabulary, structure/syntax, and meaning/semantics in them. Also, discuss their relationship to the verbal/auditory form of NLI focused on in our textbook.

2. Consider at least a couple of interaction devices (I.D.) you are familiar with: which one(s) is/are used in multiple I.S., and and which one(s) is/are used in a single I.S.? How would you evaluation the usability of an I.D. differently than the system this I.D. is embedded in?

Part 2: UI Design and Evaluation

You can do the following for yoru course project or for a different system/UI that you'd like to work on:

1. What are the I.D.s for your system/UI?
2. If you are asked to replace soem existing I.D.(s), how woud your design be affected? In other words, what would be your re-design if it is going to be different from the original one?
3. Construct your evaluation strategy to evaluate the sytem usability before and after this change with I.D. Please be specific with your evaluation activities and related usability metrics to be used with them.
