Partial Grade Posting

April 18, 2005
To:  SMU Faculty:

Although the Spring 2005 Grade Rosters will not be produced for several more weeks  I wanted to alert you to some enhancements made to the self-service grade  rosters and grade posting process.

1. Instructors now have the ability to do a Partial Grade Roster Posting. This means that you can enter the final grades for some students and have  these grades officially posted, and then come back at a later time and enter grades for all the other students in the class. The Partial  Grade Posting feature is turned on when the instructor clicks a partial  post roster checkbox. The partial post feature is available one time only for a roster. After the grades are posted for  the course, the partial post roster checkbox will be grayed out. The partial post grade box is available only to those who have authority to approve grades for the course.  Detailed instructions will be sent to you when the grade rosters are available.

2. Degree  candidates for the term will be identified on the grade rosters with an asterisk beside their names. The degree candidates also will be  identified on the view only staff grade rosters used by academic staff. The Degree Candidate Flag feature is complemented by the new  Partial Grade Roster Posting feature.

3. An e-mail confirmation notice will be sent at the end of each day to the instructors of classes for which grades were posted that day. It is always a good idea to verify  the posted grade roster.

An Enrollment Services E-lert will be sent to you when end of term grade  rosters are available on Access.SMU. Please remember that SMU policy requires that final grades are submitted 48 hours after the scheduled final  examination.

Please feel free to contact me if  you have questions.
