B-catenin interaction with E-cadherin
B-catenin was originally identified in cell adherens where it functions to bridge the cytoplasmic domain of cadherins to a-catenin and the actin cytoskeleton. (Xing)

B-catenin (gold) binds to the highly conserved cytoplasmic domain of cadherins (purple). Residues Phe118 (N-terminal) and Met149 (R1) are shown due their interaction with a-catenin.

B-catenin (gold) residues 118-149 (N-term and R1) interaction with a-catenin (light purple) causing conformational change on R1.

Spacefilling view showing the interaction E-cadherin (purple) with the armadillo domain (gold).
