Heat-Shock transcription Factor 1

Heat shock transcription factor 1(HSF1) is involved in the heat shock response. It has an important role that maintaining protein homeostasis and preventing protein aggregation. Heat shock response is highly conserved pathway in all organisms. HSF1 exists as an inactive monomer with HSP40/HSP70 and HSP90 in the cytosol. Upon stress, HSF1 will be released from the chaperone complex and trimerize. Then, the HSF1 trimer transports into the mucleus and bind to DNA region called Heat shock element(HSE) and the start the transcription of heat shock protein such as HSP72, HSP70.
