Engineering faculty receive two computer accounts from SMU. Each can be used for email and web site creation, but have separate login IDs and passwords:
OIT computer accounts (smu.edu)
Each new faculty member is assigned an email account by the university’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) group, of the form: yourname@smu.edu or yourname@mail.smu.edu. It is to this address that all official announcements are sent, including rosters requested from access.smu.edu. Notification is sent to the EMIS administrative assistant when the account is established, and that notification is forwarded to the faculty, per the following example:

To access this account from a web browser, faculty can log in to webmail.smu.edu, with their 8-digit SMU ID number as the login ID and the above password. From this page, email can be retreived and sent.
Once you receive your email account, please sign up for the online password reset tool. See ITS Account Passwords description page for reasons and instructions.
Engineering School computer accounts (engr.smu.edu)
Each new engineering faculty member must request an account for the School of Engineering computer network. This enables use of classroom PCs and other school services. See computer account request page for details.
