Grade Posting Policy

The Faculty Handbook, Southern Methodist University, dated March 11, 2002, states on page 32 the following policy for the submission of grades:

    “5. All grades will be turned in on, or before, the final deadline date set for sending grade sheets to the Registrar’s Office.”

The deadline date, as originally determined by the Southern Methodist University Faculty Senate, is 48 hours after the end of the final examination period assigned for the class.

For over a decade, the School of Engineering has enjoyed an informal extension of this deadline for Distance Education (DE) class sections as students in such sections typically receive their class materials a week or so after on-campus students. With the creation of executive format courses and problems that have arisen because a significant number of course grades are not being posted in a timely manner each term, a formal policy for posting course grades is needed.

The following School of Engineering Grade Posting Policy is:

“The final deadline date for posting School of Engineering course grades on Access.SMU is determined by the course section number as follows:
