Facilities in the Department of Chemistry

Facilities in the Department of Chemistry include newly remodeled, well-hooded laboratories with capabilities of handing air-sensitive materials, polymer synthesis, and characterization of polymers using nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared, and UV-visible spectroscopies, thermal analyses (differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analyses), gel permeation chromatography, and dynamic mechanical analysis. Determination of magnetic particle size and distribution using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is available for SMU faculty and graduate student use at Southwestern Medical School.
